Life drawing - Lesson 4


Here is the first three quick studies that I completed using black ink and a water pen. We were given 10 minutes to complete each study. 


Here are my 10 studies, each of which I completed in 1 minute. For this study I use blue ink.


This is my final study that took 20 minutes to complete. For this study I used both blue and red ink to experiment with the light and dark areas on the model's body.

    you've got some nice stuff happening here - and I love the way the ink is allowed to run and create those expressive vertical lines :)

Film review: A Knight's Tale (2001) - A Hero's journey

During today's lecture we looked into depth on Joseph Campbell's monomyth theory on the 17 stages of 'A Hero's Journey' and how the stages are very evident in films such as Star Wars: A New Hope (1977) and The Matrix (1999). The theory has 3 acts which come together to form the 17 different stages in A Hero's Journey.  Below is a diagram to explain Campbell's theory: Figure 1.
