@Phil Fantastic voyage - story idea

Story idea Collection of bees in the hive being briefed on their job for today by the queen bee Diagrams showing the sunflowers and how the bees are going to pollinate them - here is where I will show labelled diagrams of the flowers explaining what each part of the flower does and how the bees will help the flower's reproduction The bees are then assigned their own flower couple to help reproduce The bees are then released from the hive The bee that is being focused on (Buzz) then goes on a journey finding his flower couple using an image of the flowers As its his first time pollinating he gets confused with what to do so he looks around trying to see what the other bees are doing.  A bee mentor then comes over and reminds him of what to do He then understands his job and pollinates them

Soundscape - blog submission

Sonic concept publication Sound designer profile Original sound recordings Image 1 Image 2 Image 3 Reflective statement For this project we were given three images by Phil from which we were told to create sounds for. After being given the images I immediately started to bubble map ideas of what sounds or objects I believe relate to the images I was given. One of the first problems I encountered while doing this project was ensuring that the sounds special effects seemed to fit in with what I though the object in the image sounded like. In order to combat this I read through the notes we had been given from Kat's lessons and started to familiar myself even further with the software. I also struggled with recording sounds that I believed created a suitable sound for the image. For this, I researched further into different noises and what could be used to make them. I enjoyed being able to take my own spin on this project as w...

Fantastic Voyage - Briefing and ideas

Image
For our Fantastic Voyage briefing we were given three scenarios to choose from: The carbon cycle (GCSE Content, years 9 - 11) Plant growth cycles (Key Stage 3, years 7 - 8) The cardiac cycle (GCSE biology/ AS level biology, years 11 - 12) For one of the three scenarios above we have been told to create a 3 minute educational animation that can be used as a teaching resource for teachers to show to students. Out of the three scenarios I found the plant growth cycles to be the most interesting, especially insect pollination. In the briefing I found bee pollination to be the most renown way to pollinate so this is what I have decided to focus on.  ------------------------------------------ Currently my main idea is that there is a romance between 2 flowers, but as they are distant from each other they are unable reproduce. This is until one day a bee flies by one of the flowers. This flower then asks the bee to pass some of his pollen to t...

Character design - Lesson 3

Image
For the first half of the lesson we were told to design weapons for a well known character as if they were going into battle. I chose Ralph from ' Wreck-It Ralph '. These are the first weapon design ideas that I came up with. My first weapon was a knuckle duster with a spiked wrecking ball attached. Once I'd spoken to Justin, I then reconsidered the design and left it as just a spiked wrecking ball attached to a chain in which Ralph would wrap around his arm. I then thought about giving Ralph a grapple shooter but then thought that it would not fit in with his character or style.  I then decided to draw three m ore weapon ideas on was a larger hammer that Ralph could use to hit other people. I also thought about Ralph having a 'brick belt' so that he could throw bricks at people. I then moved onto a petrol bomb as Ralph is considered as an almost hill billy character and hill billies create moonshine. For the second half of the lesson, we then loo...

From script to screen - Initial location and object design

Image
Here is my initial idea for the location in which the story will be set. In the story the main character is a brain surgeon who is operating on a patient so I believed that having the main location as a surgery room would be suitable. I then moved on to look at how I was going to draw the object in the story which is a battery. In order for the whole story to link and after speaking to Phil I looked into the brain being a battery in the story as the brain powers the whole body, like a battery would power a toy. I then looked into which parts of the brain retain information and intelligence to see which part of the brain Hugo Brantly would extract from his patients. After researching I believe that a piece from the patient's frontal lobe would be best.

From Script to screen - Premise and Logline

The premise After months of patients coming out of surgery in a worse condition and believing that a newly recruited brain surgeon is up to something, one doctor realises that you shouldn't trust everybody. The logline Hugo Brantly is a brain surgeon well known around the world for his unknown but  successful methods  of curing patients that are in need of brain surgery. After Brantly  moves  to the  hospital and  patients continuing  to encounter problems after surgery,  doctor Lewis Drager decides to surprise Brantly by walking in unexpectedly on one of his surgeries. He then finds that Brantly is in fact stealing pieces of each patient's brain in order become super knowledgeable and more successful.

From Script to Screen - Story Components

Image
Character: Pirate Location: Hospital Object: Battery Once I had received the different components that I had been given for my 'From Script to Screen' project I then created a bubble map of different story lines I could follow.  Here are the ideas that I came up with. I think that my favourite story line at the moment is where the Pirate is actually a surgeon on call for work while at a fancy dress party who then gets called into work at the hospital. This is as I believe I could then make the animation comical.
