Here is the orthographic drawings of the spit roast that is located towards the front left of the final digital concept painting.    Here is the orthographic drawings of the thimble that is used to collect water from the tap that is located to the right hand side of every additional water collection building. Here is the orthographic drawing for the slides within the city. A black background has been used so that the transparent glass is easy to see.

I've decided, with the help of Jordan, that some buildings within my city should be shaped and coloured differently depending on their use. This would allow for the buildings to stand out as well as adopt the glass colours from my artist Dale Chihuly. In 'Lalo' the main feature within the city is the Provence roses at its centre which are encased in glass. Jordan suggested that perhaps the glass surrounding the roses could have a more organic shaping and perhaps replicate certain features of the stem such as the thorns. He also suggested that as the roses were pink, maybe the glass could be coloured the same. He also told me to consider how each of the buildings I am creating could be constructed. I chose for each of the glass buildings to be constructed using small glass panels as it would be easier to create the small curves within the structures. I then considered what other things may be needed in the city, so I looked at how the inhabitants would be able...

Digital painting - Production design

Image
In our digital painting lesson we were told to choose a piece of paper from one box, which was to do with an everyday object, and another box that was to do with either an animal or plant. From the boxes I selected 'lizard' and 'wardrobe' which meant that I needed to create a wardrobe inspired by a lizard. For this I chose to research into horned lizards, because of their interesting shaped horns, and antique wardrobes, due to their style and the materials used to construct them. I then created an influence map from the images that I found. Influence map After creating the influence map, I then looked into the wood material of the wardrobe and the texture on the lizard. From this, I then creating drawings.  From then I then started to create thumbnail sketches of different wardrobe ideas that were inspired by a lizard. I then selected thumbnail number 2 and progressed it further by adding colour and texture to the design. I linked this ...

Monster character design - Preppy monster 3

Image
Here are my front, side and back views of my monster. In order to create these, I imported my drawn image from Adobe illustrator onto Adobe Photoshop where I was then able to create the side and back views of the character. Front view Side view Back view

Monster character design - Preppy monster 2

Image
After selecting my final monster design, I then scanned my A3 design onto the computer and imported the image to Adobe Illustrator. By doing this I was able to place the image on a layer below a drawing layer which allowed for me to trace the outline of the character and create a digital copy of the image. Once I had completed outlining my monster design I then moved on to adding colour to my image. For this, I created a new layer and placed it below the layer which consisted of my character's outline. This enabled me to be able to colour the image and then, if I needed to at any point, remove the colour and be left with the character's outline.  Once I had completed colouring my character, I then moved onto creating multiple versions of it in a variety of colours to show how I would be able to make different types of my character if necessary. After completing creating different versions of my character, I then moved onto adding shading to my orig...
