Premise - Reflective statement

When I started this project I had two different ideas from which I was thinking about creating an animation. One was about my Type One Diabetes and how I came to find that I have it, and the other was living with my sister who has ADHD. At first I was indecisive over which I would prefer to choose but I believed creating an animation about my diabetes and my experiences of having it was more suitable as it was more personal to me. When the project began I spent a lot of time coming up with the original concept for it, which was having me as a character and going through the different stages of my life with diabetes. I found it hard at first to not be too literal when creating a step by step plan of what to include, but with some help, I came up with my final idea which I believe is a much more successful and interesting version.  When it came to designing characters we had gone down from the original character number being 2 or 3, to being 1. This character is the pe...

I have experimented by looking at how different eyes would look on my character after feedback from Alan. I have created this by drawing over the orthographic designs on Photoshop. 1.  2.   3. 4.   5.

@Phil Premise - Animatic with audio - cut down

After realising that some of the shots in the animatic are too long, and after receiving feedback about it, I have reduced some of the shots in the animatic. I believe that having done this has helped the animatic.

Premise - Set layout

Image
I have decided to create the set for my animation using just one elongated 'room'. This is, as shown in the animatic, the diabetes monster walks to and is placed down into different parts of the set. In doing this it will be easier to navigate the camera around to the different mini sets within the 'room' and it will also be easier to place the character into the different mini sets. I have also decided on creating a surface shader in Maya for the scene that is completely white. In doing this I will be able to make it seem as though the monster is in an infinite space without the need to actually make it infinite.  The image below shows the scene with a grey lambert, I did this to show how the scene looks before the surface shader was applied. The image below shows the scene as it would look in the animation with the surface shader applied. The image below show how the scene will be split into sections. Some of the plain sections, such as section one, wil...

Premise - Diabetes monster front and side view

Image
I have now drawn the official front and side view for my diabetes monster. After following Alan's advice, I have increased the monster's size in the side view. This makes the monster seem more realistic proportions wise and cuter.
