'What if?' Metropolis - Artist research - Dale Chihuly

The artist that I am collaborating with on this project is Dale Chihuly. Chihuly is a glass sculptor who was born in Tacoma, Washington, in the United States. Chihuly's work is inspired by his fascination of botanical gardens. He uses the organic shaping of different plants to design and create glass sculptors and installations of which he exhibits in botanical gardens and museums worldwide.

Shown in the influence map above are images of Chihuly's work. I have looked at each of the images and made notes on Chihuly's influences for each piece, the colours that he uses and sharpness of the edges. I will look at this influence map while creating my thumbnails.

  1. Don't forget to look as his method for designing his pieces - his paintings are wonderful, and maybe you could 'paint his way' as a means of inhabiting his imagination?
