Life drawing - Lesson 8


Here are my life drawings from our life drawing class the other week.


I completed this piece using two different shades of orange pastels and a blue pastel. I selected the blue pastel fro the piece in order to create a bigger contrast in colour. I used a water brush so that the colours were able to easily blended together.




In this exercise I used a marker pen to create the bold pen strokes. I created some nice pieces using continuous line and by focusing on the shaping of the model rather than just the outline.

Film review: A Knight's Tale (2001) - A Hero's journey

During today's lecture we looked into depth on Joseph Campbell's monomyth theory on the 17 stages of 'A Hero's Journey' and how the stages are very evident in films such as Star Wars: A New Hope (1977) and The Matrix (1999). The theory has 3 acts which come together to form the 17 different stages in A Hero's Journey.  Below is a diagram to explain Campbell's theory: Figure 1.
