From Script to screen - Premise and Logline


The premise

 After months of patients coming out of surgery in a worse condition and believing that a newly recruited brain surgeon is up to something, one doctor realises that you shouldn't trust everybody.

 The logline

 Hugo Brantly is a brain surgeon well known around the world for his unknown but successful methods of curing patients that are in need of brain surgery. After Brantly moves to the hospital and patients continuing to encounter problems after surgery, doctor Lewis Drager decides to surprise Brantly by walking in unexpectedly on one of his surgeries. He then finds that Brantly is in fact stealing pieces of each patient's brain in order become super knowledgeable and more successful.

Film review: A Knight's Tale (2001) - A Hero's journey

During today's lecture we looked into depth on Joseph Campbell's monomyth theory on the 17 stages of 'A Hero's Journey' and how the stages are very evident in films such as Star Wars: A New Hope (1977) and The Matrix (1999). The theory has 3 acts which come together to form the 17 different stages in A Hero's Journey.  Below is a diagram to explain Campbell's theory: Figure 1.
