Film review - Spider-man: Homecoming - Archetypes

Hero - In the film, Spider-Man, also known as Peter Parker (played by Tom Holland), is the main protagonist. This is as he is the main character shown in the film and the film is based on his life being Spider-Man.
Shadow - The shadow character in the film is Vulture (Micheal Keaton). Throughout the film Vulture is shown to sell salvaged Chitauri (creatures that fought The Avengers in the first Avengers film) weapons to the Black Market. He then also uses one of the weapons to murder one of his henchmen. Having seen the weapons power, along with the help of his suit, Vulture tries to hijack a plane carrying the Avengers' weapons but Spider-Man stops him. Vulture's daughter also starts to date Peter Parker, causing Vulture to become suspicious about Peter's alter ego.
Mentor - Throughout the film Peter Parker is helped by and saved by Iron man/ Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr). An example of this is where he helps to fix the ferry that had been torn in half that Peter had been trying to essentially 'stick' back together. At the start of the film Stark had also given Peter his new and improved Spider-Man suit, making sure that the suit was on a 'beginner's mode' and also has training options to help Peter with the suit's new special features.

Threshold guardian - The threshold guardian could be Happy, Tony Stark's assistant, this is as he is the character not listening to Peter. He also ignores his attempt to get into contact with Stark about the chitauri weapons that banks robbers used while robbing the bank in one of the first scenes.

Herald - One could say that the character MJ is the Herald towards the end of the movie. Once the characters travel back to school they are all sitting around the table to celebrate the school winning the school quiz. Peter receives a message from an unknown number telling him to go to the bathroom, as he gets up to leave MJ says "Hey, where are you going?" and the asks whether he has something to hide. Perhaps suggesting that other characters will start to realise Peter's alter ego in the next Spider-Man film.
Trickster - Vulture's daughter Liz is the character that Peter becomes attracted to and starts to date. Although it is not her fault, she almost tricks Peter into being in a relationship with her and getting closer to her Father.
Mother - Peter Parker's Mother figure throughout the film is his aunt May Parker (Marisa Tomei) who has played the role of Peter's Mother since his Mother and Father died when he was young.

Father - Arguably Tony Stark (Iron Man) could also be seen as Peter's Father figure. He guides Peter and gives him his suit in order to allow him to fight and he also finds his Aunt, who is like his Mother, attractive.
Child - Peter Parker could also be classed as the childlike character in the film due to his lack of knowledge around understanding his abilities and having to rely on Tony in different situations. He also likes to 'check in' with Happy throughout the film, calling him to keep him updated on what he is up to.
