  1. Hi Ria,

Your research is really solid so far. I’m going to suggest some videos from the Library’s online video collections as there is some good academic-standard material available. I’ve also recommended a few books (some of which you may have already) and done an example search of the Library’s online journal collection to show what’s available.

    Books

The hanging figure on suspense and the films of Alfred Hitchcock
Horror film aesthetics : creating the visual language of fear

Who can you trust? the thriller in film and television Thriller in film and television
    Hitchcock on Hitchcock (ebook)
Thrills, Suspense, the Audience (in particular The Enjoyment of Fear (1949) and Master of Suspense: Being a Self-Analysis by Alfred Hitchcock (1950)).
    Video

Reputations. Alfred Hitchcock (online video) BBC4 documentary – ‘Groundbreaking thriller Psycho made him wealthy, while films such as Vertigo and Rear Window were hailed by Francois Truffaut as works of genius. But Hitchcock's obsession with control and his pursuit of the perfect blonde actress too on a new and damaging intensity.’ If you’ve not used estream before, you’ll need to log in with your UCA email and password.
Hitchcock's shower scene (online video) BBC4 documentary – ‘An unprecedented look at Hitchcock's infamous shower scene and its enduring legacy.’

    Online journals

hitchcock psycho - this is an example search of our online journals – there’s material comparing remakes of Psycho, its cultural impact etc. which may be of interest.

If you need anything else, you can reach me via aday7@uca.ac.uk or email gatewayrochester@uca.ac.uk to arrange a tutorial.
    Thanks,
    Andrew

  2. Hey TIA!!! So - this is what I think you should do: chapter 3 - horror games and how the theories of suspense and Hitchcockian techniques are used to create 'pleasurable fear'.... etc.
